Making a difference: How Brandcamp’s impact commitment is strengthening our local communities

Hannah Macready

When we started Brandcamp in 2020, we wanted to do things differently. Our four partners came from marketing and start-up backgrounds and were well versed in the routine of hustle, sell, and grow.

But we didn’t want to be like every other startup, solely focused on getting bigger and moving out. We wanted to stay true to our roots, impact our local communities, and be a  socially responsible business.

At our inception, we decided to make an impact commitment to keep us grounded and focused on getting better, not simply getting bigger. Less than a year later, we’re proud to have donated time and resources to seven incredible charities that have a real impact on our community, staff, and the world at large.

What is Brandcamp’s impact commitment and how does it work?

Brandcamp sets aside 10% of all incoming revenue to assist charities and non-profits with their digital marketing. We use the impact fund to pay specialists or contractors to deliver high-quality outputs that these organizations need.

By doing this, we are able to help in the creation and execution of important marketing campaigns that may have otherwise not had the budget they need. By ensuring we pay the contractors involved in the projects, we can bring on the best talent in the city and create truly effective campaigns that have a real impact on the charities we work with.

Why is this impact work important?

By creating a budget where there otherwise wouldn’t be one, we’re providing support to companies that focus on providing and demonstrating positive impact. We can see that these organizations have values that are aligned with ours and we seek to make a positive difference, whether directly or indirectly by working alongside and supporting them.

Internally, this work also brings our team together and allows us to connect under common passions. We learn about each other, our communities, and our shared experiences. Not to mention, studies show that charity work improves overall happiness. We believe a happy team is a healthy team and we are proud to be surrounded by these generous individuals.

Here are the charities we’ve helped so far:

Brandcamp is proud to have supported the following charities this year with a range of digital marketing services. Check them out and get involved if you can!

Special Olympics BC

Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics BC (SOBC) was looking for help improving their current digital marketing efforts, but needed to ensure that all of their messaging was appropriate for their diverse audience and that it prioritized accessibility for all.

This year, we helped SOBC with:

  • Social Media Strategy
  • SEO Workshop
  • Analytics and Reporting
  • Email Marketing Strategy
  • Online Ads Support (audit + optimizations, execution)
  • Content Writing

“The Brandcamp team is smart, diligent, creative, and insightful. They very quickly developed a top-quality understanding of our organization, and right away started providing valuable recommendations that we had never before considered and are a perfect fit for our values and aims. On top of that, they are fun to work with while also organized and professional. I'd hang out at their campfire any day!” - SOBC

We always love  working with the SOBC team and they are truly the kindest, most open-hearted people. Check out their Ways to Give and find out how you can support the organization today!

Making impact a priority now and in the future

It’s safe to say that 2020 was a hard year and 2021 hasn’t been much different. In the face of economic uncertainty, global disasters, local instability, and personal hardship, it can be difficult to find time to reach out and make an impact.

That being said, nothing feels better than giving. Whether that be time, money, support, or just a friendly ear. Each of the above charities faced our recent global challenges with a simple message: how can we make a difference? Brandcamp is proud to support these causes, now and into the future.

Do you have a charity you love that could use some digital marketing support? Contact our team to learn more about our impact capacity and how we can help.
